The objective of the VITES QUALITAS project is to improve the competitiveness of the wine sector in the POCTEFA territory, by increasing the longevity of the vineyards, as well as their productivity and quality through the implementation of R&D and transfer activities in plant production techniques and pruning techniques.
VITES QUALITAS establishes synergies and cooperation between Universities, Research Centres and companies by transferring their R&D results to the wine sector.
VITES QUALITAS is an experimental GLOBAL approach to vineyards of different territories, varieties, types of grafting, soils and pruning practices.

At the end of March 2020, in line with the proposal to strengthen cooperation between the different players in the territory on both sides of the border, and to improve the competitiveness of winegrowing in the POCTEFA territory, pruning trials were set up in a coordinated manner between the players in France and Spain
VITES QUALITAS aims to improve the quality and longevity of the vineyards in the POCTEEFA area, through one of the trials of the project in which the influence of the type of pruning on the development of adult vines and the incidence of wood diseases will be evaluated.
In March 2020, technical staff from the UPNA and the CSIC-ICVV, and representatives of the Chambre d’Agriculture Pyrenées Atlantiques, went to the selected vineyards and, after pruning according to the methodology used in those vineyards, the trial with the different sealing products was established.
NEWS AND EVENTS
The kick-off meeting of the VITES QUALITAS project took place at the Public University of Navarra (UPNA) from 14th to 15th January. This project has received funding from the Interreg POCTEFA programme and is designed to implement practices to improve sustainability in viticulture.
