START OF TRIALS TO STUDY THE EFFECT OF THE TYPE OF SEALING ON PRUNING WOUNDS.
UPNA, CSIC-ICVV and managers of the Pyrenees-Atlantic Chamber of Agriculture have established two trials in vineyards located in France and Spain with different products for sealing pruning wounds, for the analysis of the presence of pathogens in pruning wood in the following years.
In March 2020, technical staff from the UPNA and the CSIC-ICVV, and representatives of the Chambre d’Agriculture Pyrenées Atlantiques, went to the selected vineyards and, after pruning according to the methodology used in those vineyards, the trial with the different sealing products was established. The products used were products with or without physical/mastic barrier, and biocontrol agents. For each treatment, 2 shoots per vine were selected from the control vines and the cuttings were protected with the corresponding product.
